Leaders in our field.

Our ambition, as educational practitioners, is to become leaders in our field.

While this statement may look deceptively simple (but hard), it requires us to define 'our field', and then to consider what it means for us to be 'leaders'. Ultimately, it needs to answer the implied question of 'why?'.

So, what is our field? Well, it's the field of education. More specifically, it's in the area of innovation in education that deals with the issue of student disengagement. We don't mean to be elusive, but we are careful not to use deficit language. We resist the tendency ti describe ourselves as an 'alternative school'. We are much more than that.

Our aim is to create a new and innovative school model.

So, now the questions 'why?'. The simple reason is that we need to. There are not enough new, innovative school models that meet young people needs, and we want to be part of a bigger and collective effort to solve this problem. And to do that, we have to become experts in our own work.
